In the report Harassment on the basis of Gender and Sexual Harassment (2014), national equality bodies flag the need to build a culture of rights to ensure that the rights we have on paper according to EU and national law become a reality on the ground.
Members of the Equinet secretariat and seven members of the Equinet cluster on Quasi-Judicial Functions were hosted by the Bulgarian Commission for the Protection from Discrimination in Sofia on 31 May 2017. The purpose of the visit was to observe the procedures of the Bulgarian Commission, which has one of the most formal quasi-judicial procedures within Equinet’s membership.

The European Parliament adopted the Report on fundamental rights aspects in Roma integration in the EU: fighting anti-Gypsyism on 11 October 2017.
On 17th and 18th October 2017, the UN Office for Human Rights (OHCHR), the International Disability Alliance (IDA), the European Disability Forum (EDF) and Equinet co-organised a technical workshop on engaging with the UNCRPD Committee.
The Equinet network, and in particular its work on standards for equality bodies, was presented to Member State representatives this week, at the European Commission’s High Level Group on Non-discrimination, Equality and Diversity.

MEP Claude Moraes and Evelyn Collins, former Equinet Chair and Chief Executive of the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland, launched a joint press release on the occasion of the event.
