We still need your help: European Directory of Equality Bodies

Equinet members are asked to fill out the Members Directory online form so that we can begin to develop the interactive, comparable, fully accessible, user-friendly Online Directory to inform better users about your work.

As you know a part of our work on gathering information about equality bodies involves the section on our website dedicated to Equinet’s members. From this page, by using the list or the map, website visitors can access individual pages of each member with basic information and the possibility to take a more in-depth look at the organisation by downloading a “detailed profile”.

The main purpose of this section is to act as an information tool for policy-makers, stakeholders, researchers, people interested in the field, and (last but not least) potential victims of discrimination. A second purpose, currently achieved to a very limited degree, is to provide a snapshot of the state of equality bodies in Europe and allow some limited comparability among them (e.g. now only possible by looking at the separate detailed profiles).

However, keeping the data on our members up to date has been the biggest challenge. The need to update and redesign this tool has become increasingly important given the popularity of the members’ profiles, and the requests for updates from many high-level stakeholders and international organisations.

New Online Directory

This is why Equinet plans to launch a project called the Online European Directory of Equality Bodies. As a dedicated information portal on the Equinet website, the Directory will be:

  • truly interactive
  • richer in information
  • with more comparable data
  • fully accessible (i.e. complying with international standards of web-accessibility)
  • more user-friendly
  • stronger in terms of communications (e.g. with easy to access websites and social media profiles of each member)

We need your help!

To gather the necessary information for this tool, we have devised an online form that you are kindly asked to fill in if you have not yet done so. This will allow us to gather comparative information on all of our members and present it the new and informative tool to better highlight the work you do!
