The Office of the Public Defender of Rights is launching a research in order to examine accessibility of financial and insurance services to elderly clients

[/
In 2012 and 2013 there has been an increase in the number of complaints regarding age discrimination and access to financial and insurance services. Complaints mainly concern age limits for financial services. Furthermore in insurance companies elderly clients face discrimination as life insurance, accident insurance and travel insurance are being provided to them under considerably disadvantageous conditions. The Public Defender of Rights has decided to carry out a research in order to examine the accessibility of financial and insurance services to elderly clients. The research will be carried out from June to August of this year and the results will be published in September. The first part of the research will be carried out in the form of an anonymous questionnaire survey and during the second part of the research a method of situation testing will be applied in order to test the accessibility of financial services to the elderly. The research will be officially supported by the Czech National Bank, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority, the Financial Arbiter, the Czech Banking Association, the Czech Association of Insurance Companies and the Czech Leasing and Finance Association.
