Save the date: 20 November – EY2012 thematic seminar on ‘Creating an Age-Friendly EU by 2020’

[/The third and last EY2012 thematic seminar co-organised by AGE and the Committee of the Regions on the theme ‘Creating an Age-Friendly EU by 2020’ will be held on 20 November 2012 at the Committee of the Regions in Brussels./]

[/The event will mark the end of the European Year 2012 for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations and provide an overview of the discussions and actions held throughout 2012.

According to the organisers, in the current context of significant budget difficulties in most Member States, innovative and cost effective responses to the challenges posed by demographic change are needed to ensure realistic results for citizens of all ages across the EU.

Thus, the seminar will:

– Take stock of the situation within the EU and identify actions needed at different levels and in different areas to create environments that foster the autonomy, inclusion and active participation of all generations in society;
– Make recommendations to decision-makers and stakeholders on how best respond to the challenge of demographic ageing through the creation of age-friendly environments.

More details on this conference will be posted on the AGE website in the coming weeks.
